It's set to be a massive year for video games in 2025, with several heavy-hitter franchises all set to see new instalments. If you've felt like your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S has been gathering dust, strap in - it's about to be a good one.
From behemoths like GTA 6 to smaller scale projects like Slay the Spire 2, this year is set to have a little something for everyone. We've even got a new hardware launch on the horizon with the Nintendo Switch 2 promising to bring the home of Mario and Zelda into the current generation.
I've listed out all the biggest video game release dates I can find below, so you can keep track of exactly when each new video game is set to release each month. New release dates are being announced all the time, so be sure to check back regularly as I will keep this calendar updated.

While there are plenty of games already slated to release in 2025, there are plenty more that don't yet have concrete release dates. While there are a lot of things that affect when game's come out, GTA 6 is the big elephant in the room that a lot of publishers are keeping an eye out for.
Put simply, GTA 6 is going to be a mammoth release. When it finally hits consoles, it's all anyone is going to be buying, playing and talking about for weeks on end.
For that reason, it makes sense that publishers hold back their games for as long as possible to avoid releasing around the same time as GTA 6. That's why you'll see plenty of games slated for the first half of 2025, with the second half looking incredibly bare.
